It was dark and rain beat on his back, but he let a smile crawl over his face. He was there again in a world that never should have been. All was as it had been--or as it should have been. He felt the sword under his fingers, the cool breeze pushing his wet hair across his face, and the mystery and excitement of a new world. Yes, this is what he wanted.

Dark figures in the background lurked around the corners, out of reach. The creatures feared him, their master, Riku. There was an overwhelming power in his heart, beckoning to him with the sweet voice of a beloved, a voice so close and so familiar yet unrecognizable. The power, still sealed deep in his soul, screamed to be released, and Riku did not hesitate. This power belonged to him; the darkness was his.

The light of the world left him, and he did not mourn it’s passing. He knew things other did not, and he was free of the burden that had held him for so long. Power uncovered many things; for him, power unlocked an entire world that he had never seen, a dark, miserable world with a beauty that no one else could possibly understand as he did. There was something appealing in the cruelty it shared: the hatred, the lust, the constant struggle; it was all gorgeous, a diamond among the rocks in the universe. He could not look away; he would never shield his eyes. This magnificent world, the perfect, wonderful thing it was, he would never let anyone change it. To his dying breath, he would keep it as amazingly merciless as it was, always constant and never changing, forever.





I don't know what came over me to write this, but... this piece was so beautiful... I must make this something real, something I can actually use... I think I will...
